| IRIS is a fast and secure way to clear immigration. Iris recognition offers a method of securely recognizing offers a method of securely recognizing someone by the pattern of his/her iris. |

IRIS is open at Heathrow terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4, Gatwick North and South, Manchester terminals 1 and 2 and Birmingham terminal 1. (Details is as below)
To apply to join IRIS you must visit one of the enrolment rooms in person. There is no application form to fill in. |

Enrolments
British passport holders, Appropriated UK resident visa holders who has lived in UK more than 6 months
Minimum ages to apply : 8 years old |

You will need your passport, which provides proof of your immigration entitlement or status, and your boarding card. The immigration official will take a portrait picture and photographs of your iris patterns, which will be then checked against the iris data stored in the secure immigration database.
There is no application form to fill in.
All of this normally takes about 5 to 10 minutes |

How to use IRIS
When you arrive back in the UK, follow the airport signs for arrival and baggage reclaim and look for the IRIS barrier. Once inside the barrier you will look into the IRIS camera and it will photograph your iris patterns. If you are recognized and your enrolment is still valid, the barrier will open automatically and you will be able to enter the UK. |

All data collected will be treated in confidence by the Home Office and will be processed in accordance with our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998. |
