Tokyo March 20, 2007 -
ANA today filed an application with Japan's Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) to lower its fuel surcharge on
international tickets issued on or after May 1 this year, in line
movements in the market price of fuel.
The international fuel surcharge was introduced in
February, 2005, along with provisions for its reduction or removal in
light of the following market conditions:
If on the 10th day of the month (or the next
working day where the 10th falls on a holiday), the price of
Singapore kerosene1 has remained below US$70 per barrel for the
preceding 30 consecutive days2, ANA will apply to the MLIT to
lower the surcharge to the levels shown in chart (2). Similarly, if the
market price continues to fall, it will be further reduced in accordance
with the chart. The fuel surcharge will be discontinued completely if the
market price drops below US$40 per barrel for 30 consecutive days. Changes
come into effect from the first day of the following month. |
