ANA Unveils New Products and Services for International
Passengers from June 2, 2006
New Services at Narita Terminal 1 South Wing including
Japan's First Arrivals Lounge |
|
| |
|
| TOKYO March 1, 2006 - From June 2 this year,
ANA & Star Alliance member airlines will come together in the
South Wing of Terminal 1 at Tokyo's Narita Airport, a brand new
facility designed to exploit alliance synergies and make international
travel easier and more convenient. |
| |
| The new Narita Terminal 1 South Wing departure lobby will boast
a spacious floor plan covering approximately 16,200 square meters,
three times larger than the current lobby at Narita Terminal 2.
For the first time, 10 of the 11 Star Alliance members serving Narita
Airport will be located in one place in an ideal layout which facilitates
check-in and departure procedures as well as easy navigation around
the terminal. |
| |
Self-Service Check-in Units
To save further time, ANA will install 126 self-service check-in
units - the largest number of any airport in the world - which also
have the capacity to be used by other airlines. In future it is
planned to expand use of the units to all passengers of Star Alliance
member airlines, regardless of the carrier with which they are travelling. |
| |
Smart e-Service
ANA's Smart e-Service, which allows passengers to complete all ticketing
and check-in procedures online via computer or mobile phone, will
also be available for flights departing from Narita Terminal 1.
The same as that offered currently at ANA's domestic hub, Haneda
airport, Smart e-Service enables passengers to receive their boarding
pass in a mere eight seconds with nothing more than a simple touch
of their mobile phone, or RF enabled ANA credit card to the self-service
check-in unit. |
| |
Curbside Check-in
If arriving by bus or car, ANA passengers will have access to quick
and easy curbside check-in. |
| |
In-line Screening
Furthermore, ANA will introduce in-line baggage screening inside
the terminal - reducing the amount of time passengers have to stand
in line and freeing up space in the terminal. |
| |
Reduced Connecting Times
The move to Narita Terminal 1 South Wing will radically improve
the minimum connecting times for passengers transiting connecting
between the flights of Star Alliance member airlines. |
|
 |
| |
Baggage drop for international to domestic connections
In addition, passengers connecting from international to domestic
flights at the new South Wing will no longer be required to call
at the domestic departure counter to check-in their bags again.
Making use of Japan's first baggage drop facility after clearing
customs, they can transit simply and quickly to their domestic flight.

Departure Lounges
First and business class passengers, ANA Mileage Club (AMC) Diamond,
Platinum ANA Super Flyers card holders and Star Alliance Gold members
will be able to relax at one of two ANA departure lounges in Satellites
4 & 5. At 3,000 square meters each, the new lounges will provide
twice as much space as current lounges, and 30% more seats. |
|
 |
| When combined with the lounge of United Airlines in Satellite
3, this means that over 10,000 square meters of lounge space is
offered to passengers of Star Alliance member airlines. |
| |
Arrival Lounge
In another first for Japan, ANA has created an arrivals lounge equipped
with showers for passengers to refresh themselves after their international
flight/ The arrival lounge is available to ANA First Class and Club
ANA business class passengers, ANA Mileage Club (AMC) Diamond and
Platinum members, and ANA Super Flyers cardholders. The arrivals
lounge also doubles as the domestic departure lounge. |
