| ANA e-tickets Valid on 11 Star Alliance Members from September |
|
| |
|
| TOKYO August 31, 2005 - From the end of September this year,
ANA customers can enjoy the convenience of using just one e-ticket
for travel on ANA and onward flights on 11 other Star Alliance
members. |
| |
| Until today, ANA e-tickets were valid on seven other Star Alliance
members: Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Asiana, Austrian Airlines,
LOT Polish Airlines, Thai Airways and United Airlines. From today,
Singapore Airlines and bmi of the UK will join this list, and by
the end of September, the planned addition of Lufthansa of Germany,
and Varig Brazilian Airlines will bring the total to 11 partners. |
| |
| E-tickets are one of the most popular products with airline customers,
affording the convenience of checking-in with no more than a form
of personal identification, and removing the need for paper tickets
and the danger of their being lost or stolen. |
| |
| Rules regarding e-tickets differ from airline to airline, which
makes it difficult to use the same e-ticket for journeys taken
on multiple carriers. Star Alliance has standardised these rules
for member airlines, giving passengers the possibility to travel
round the world on a single e-ticket using different member carriers.
For ANA customers, this means simpler, hassle-free onward travel
from ANA’s gateway cities in the USA, Europe and Asia, using
the same e-ticket. |
| |
| ANA is the first Japanese airline to offer such a large number
of e-ticket partners, and will continue to work with other major
airlines throughout the world in order to extend the scope of this
sought-after product. |
| |
| *e-tickets may not be available for certain itineraries and at
travel agents |
